Women's Council
A group of women who attended a women’s reception for Chief Cathy Lanier in November 2008 were so enthusiastic about her plans and commitment to public safety that they decided to form a Women’s Council within the DC Police Foundation to support the Chief’s efforts. The group has met since that time to plan special initiatives and engage women business leaders from around the region.
Members of the Women's Council are members of the DC Police Foundation.
Strategic Mission:
To support the Chief of Police in making the District of Columbia a safe place to live, work and visit by advancing the Chief's long-term priorities and near term in-kind and financial needs.
Ticket Booth:
The Women’s Council Ticket Booth initiative seeks donated tickets and box seats to sporting and cultural events for MPD's youth programs and to reward outstanding and deserving officers. The Ticket Booth has been a huge success with corporate partners and individuals who often have last minute tickets to donate. Officers and their families and youth in MPD's programs greatly enjoy this unique opportunity to attend such events in the city they live and serve. To donate, email Meghan
Wish List:
The Women’s Council Wish List initiative matches MPD needs with donations and in-kind services that could easily be provided to MPD district police stations. Many organizations have a surplus of items that they no longer need or use, such as furniture, computers/printers, and office supplies. Please contact your facility person to find out what you might have to donate to the Wish List for MPD. To donate, email Meghan
Women's Leaderhip Forum
On November 15, 2012, the Women's Council brought together over 150 women leaders in the DC area to hear from three outstanding panelists: Chief of Police Cathy Lanier, Beverly Perry, Special Advisor to the CEO, Pepco Holdings, Inc., and Alisa Ulrey, Group Director of Target Corporation. These inspiring leaders were interviewed by two young women who participated in our youth programs. It was a special evening where local women leaders interacted with high school young women in our youth outreach programs to empower them and to lead them on a continued path of success.
